The ECIS Simulator (SIM) is designed to provide the following three services:

  • User Training
  • Control System Testing
  • Field Control Point Testing

For UserTraining, the SIM provides a trainer interface that allows the trainer to introduce field device faults such as switch failures, stuck track indications, and signal failures. The trainer is co-located with the User which allows for review of User performance.  The SIM provides train movement simulation in real-time and provides for automatically adding trains per provided schedules.  These are the same schedules that are used by the control system for monitoring of train on-time performance.  This will allow the students to be trained using the current train traffic volume and traffic flow conditions.

For Control System Testing the SIM connects to a TDPro control system via the code line interface.  The SIM simulates the same field protocols as are supported by the CS.  The simulator receives controls for up to 16 single or dual (provides for A/B polling) code lines  and provide appropriate indications.  Each code line can have up to 25 physical stations.  The SIM is limited to 160 total physical stations.  Each physical station is limited to 128 indication words and 128 control words (1024 bits each).  Using the real-time train simulator in conjunction with current schedule information, the simulator provides the ability to test all data paths of the system from the User mouse to the code line interface at the ECIS Code Server with all phases of the normal operating environment.

For Field Control Point Testing the SIM interfaces with the terminal post outputs and inputs on a field control point and to the non-vital interface.  This provides round trip bit verification capabilities that will allow the user to fully test a field control point.  The SIM connects to the front end of the control point through the normal code line interface provided by the non-vital code system interface of the control point.  The SIM connects to the back end of the control point through a separate code line interface provided by the Control Point logic controller vendor.
